Changing Lives are a nationally registered charity providing specialist support services to around 6,000 vulnerable people and their families, every month. Through their pioneering and innovative work, they support people to make positive, lasting changes in their lives.
They work with people who are, or have experienced homelessness, are recovering from addiction, or are moving on from offending.
In 2015 we supported the Calvert Trust Kielder who provide people with disabilities as well as their families and friends the opportunity to experience fun, exciting outdoor activities. Our director Ben Ridgway has took part in the London Marathon and raised a huge £2828.20. We are also taking part in the Great North Run later this year.
We also supported Martin House Children's Hospice. It's a brilliant charity that provides family led care for children with life-limiting conditions. They offer children, young people and their families a place to stay from time to time through their journey and receive support, rest and practical help. Our main event was golf day, where we invited our partner estate agents to join us at the Gosforth Golf Club in Newcastle for a series of competitions.
2014 was a fantastic year for our charity committee! We raised £14,261.94 for Marie Curie Cancer Care across a series of exciting events. The money raised went towards the cost of a Marie Curie nurse; these nurses work around the clock to care for people with terminal illnesses.
The charity committee worked incredibly hard to put together a variety of fundraising events, these included an Easter egg hunt, open mic night, pub quiz, bubble football tournament, Great North Run, a Halloween party and a estate agents golf day at Slaley Hall.
